PUPPIES

Puppies need to be slowly introduced to the grooming process. The general
rule of thumb to begin grooming a puppy is after they have received their first
series of vaccinations.

First time groom for a puppy should consist of brushing out the coat, trimming
the nails and cleaning the ears. Then the bath and hand drying on the lowest
power setting.

The next groom can then consist of introducing the clippers and the scissors and
teeth brushing if desired.

These appointments should remain seperate for the first 6 months to ease the puppy
into the full groom process. Pooch Paradise wants to make your puppy's grooming
experience as pleasant and stress free as possible. It is best to try and schedule
these appointments 2-3 weeks apart for the first 6 months. Special puppy packages
can be arranged so that the expense of having an appointment every 2-3 weeks will
cost the same as normal maintenence grooming appointments that are every 4-6 weeks.

All puppy owners should take the time to massage the pads and toes of their
puppies regularly to get the dog used to his feet being touched, this will make
nail clipping an easier process and stress free for the dog as they get older.

Patience and consistency is the key for puppy owners!! If these steps are followed the
puppy will get used to being touched/groomed and when it is full grown it will be more
comfortable and less stressed on grooming day!!
